A processing method that thinly coats a metal surface with platinum-group Rhodium to add a silvery-white luster and prevent discoloration
A technique of coating a Rhodium film onto the surface of a base metal such as brass, stainless steel, or silver using an electrolysis method. Due to the physical properties of Rhodium, which belongs to the platinum group, it has a cool silvery-white luster and protects the base metal from oxidation in the air and scratches. It is mainly used as a final finishing material for jewelry and watches.

Rhodium-plated surfaceRHODIUM PLATINGAppearance
It exhibits a smooth metallic luster of silvery-white with a bright, cool undertone. Unlike the characteristically warm and soft texture of silver, it presents a hard and clear, mirror-like reflective surface. Compared to nickel plating or ordinary silver plating, the surface shines clearly and transparently.
Use
It is widely used for the exterior finishing of fashion jewelry such as bangles, necklaces, and earrings made of brass or stainless steel. It is also commonly used as a final coating process to prevent surface discoloration of white gold or sterling silver products and to evenly match the bright white color.
Care
Vigorously rubbing with a polishing cloth containing abrasives or with cleaners may abrade the thin plating layer and expose the metal underneath. After wearing, gently wiping off sweat or cosmetic residue with a soft, dry cloth and storing it airtight will maintain the lifespan of the plating.
