A decorative pleating technique made by folding fabric into a narrow, pin-thin width and stitching it down from the outside
Pintuck is a technique in which fabric is folded as thinly as a pin and stitched down from the outside right next to the fold line to secure it. Because the width of the folded pleat is extremely narrow and rises straight up, it creates three-dimensional linear ridges on the surface. It is mainly used as a decorative detail on shirt fronts, necklines, and pants center creases.

Thin, straight stripe-like pleats around 1 to 3mm form on the outer surface of the fabric. Stitch lines run along the folded edges, and narrow raised ridges appear across the fabric surface in regular intervals or irregular linear patterns.
Use
Arranging them densely on the front panels, fronts, or necklines of shirts or blouses provides a decorative effect. They are also used to insert pintuck stitching in a straight line along the center line of the front panels of pants to create permanent three-dimensional creases so that the pressed lines do not fade.
Care
After washing, the folded tuck sections can get crushed or bend against the grain. When ironing, you must smooth the direction of the pleated grain where the stitching runs by hand before pressing to maintain the original raised shape.
