It is an oven-safe heat-resistant glass pot, but can I put it directly on a gas stove flame or an induction cooktop?

You will encounter the IWAKI heat-resistant glass casserole where cooking and cleaning happen, such as on oven racks, inside microwaves, and in dishwasher racks. This two-handled pot with a lid is made to be usable in ovens and microwaves, and can also be cleaned in dishwashers^[1][2].

However, it cannot be placed on direct heat sources such as gas stoves or highlight cooktops, nor on induction cooktops^[3]. In general, heat-resistant glass is stable against convective heat that warms the entire vessel uniformly, but carries a high risk of breaking under sudden, localized temperature differences caused by flames touching only one part of the bottom. Induction, which relies on magnetism, also cannot transfer heat to glass materials.

Therefore, you should avoid placing it directly on a gas flame to boil stews or make stir-fried dishes like a regular pot. It is safe and convenient when handled as cookware used to cook ingredients in a microwave or bake them gently in an oven, and then brought straight to the dining table in the pot to share food.
