It is a slingback sandal with a wool exterior, so why are the lining and insole lined with cow leather?
Asked when curious why cow leather is placed on the inside and footbed that come into contact with the skin in a sandal made with wool fabric.
It is structured so that the outer surface is made of textured wool fabric, while cow leather is placed on the lining and insole where the foot directly touches.
The outside is textured wool fabric, and the inside is smooth cow leather[1][2]. FARO slingback sandals_navy wool by PIETON uses a 100% wool fabric in a twill weave with diagonal grain for the upper, which is the shoe's exterior[3][4]. On the other hand, cow leather is used for the lining wrapping the inside of the instep and for the insole touched by the sole of the foot[5][6].
In general, while wool fabrics stand out for their inherent texture, they can easily stretch or pill if used in areas exposed to sweat and friction like the inside of a shoe. In contrast, cow leather firmly supports the shape and has excellent resistance to friction. It is a structure finished with leather on the inside to securely wrap the foot and reduce shape deformation while maintaining the textile texture of the exterior.

The specific processing method or thickness of the cow leather used in the lining and insole has not yet been confirmed.
