How is 'Melange Grey' written in the color field different from plain grey?
When choosing grey clothes, Melange Grey is mixed in among names categorized by brightness like GREY and Light Grey, making it confusing whether this is also a name for brightness.
Melange grey is not a name indicating the brightness of grey, but a name derived from the way the yarn is woven by blending.
The grey names written in the color field of LOW CLASSIC are not assigned based on the same criteria. GREY[1], Light Grey[2], and CHARCOAL[3] all indicate how light or dark the grey is. They are names that can be lined up in your head in order of brightness.
Melange Grey[4] is difficult to insert into that line. Melange is a term referring to a state woven from yarn drawn by pre-mixing fibers of different colors, so it is a name about how the surface looks, not brightness. When viewed up close, colors are mixed like fine specks, giving the surface more depth than fabric dyed evenly in a single color. Because white fibers are often blended together, it may also appear slightly lighter and hazier on screen than a solid grey of the same brightness.
There are also cases where STRIPE is placed in the same field[5]. hmmm, rather than a place to measure and write down the brightness of a color, this field is closer to a place to write what that option is called — so names that indicate brightness and names that indicate texture are placed side by side. When choosing grey, it will be less confusing if you compare Melange Grey not as a grey that is one tone lighter than other greys, but as a grey with a different texture.

It has not yet been confirmed which fibers are blended in what ratio for the yarn of Melange Grey.
