The fixing hoop wrapped around the outside of the wooden rice container is not visible; how is its shape maintained?
Traditional wooden rice containers are made by assembling several pieces together and then tightening them with a band on the outside to fix them in place, but since this product has no visible hoop on the outer surface, one wonders whether the pieces might separate during use.
Instead of having an externally visible hoop, its shape is maintained by embedding a stainless steel fixing band inside the wooden body using proprietary technology.
The outside consists solely of straight-grained wood, but a solid metal band is hidden on the invisible inside. Originally, traditional wooden rice containers maintain their shape by joining several wooden pieces in a circle and then tightening them with a hoop woven from copper or bamboo wrapped around the outside. As the wood repeatedly swells and shrinks according to the heat and moisture from the rice, the gaps between the boards would open up if they were not bound from the outside.
Instead of wrapping this hoop around the outside, KAMA-ASA embedded a stainless steel fixing band inside the wooden body using proprietary technology[1][2]. It was made to firmly hold the structure of the round container even without an externally visible hoop. For the body, only straight-grained wood with straight grain selected from Kiso sawara cypress over 100 years old is used[3]. Straight-grained wood with uniform grain warps less even as it absorbs moisture and dries, and together with the fixing band hidden inside the body, it stably supports the container's shape.
hmmm, the craftsmanship of hiding the outer hoop inside does not stop at creating a sleek exterior appearance; it also leads to the utility of saving effort in washing and caring for it, as moisture and rice grains do not get caught in crevices.
