Will the bottom foot of the bowl stain if it comes into contact with kimchi broth or seasonings?
When stacking bowls after a meal or serving food, it is easy to get seasoning on the bottom foot, which makes one wonder if the exposed clay area might get stained.
Care is required because unglazed areas, such as the foot and bottom surface of HAKUSAN bowls, can be stained by seasonings.
The inside of the bowl where food is placed is smoothly glazed, but the bottom and foot areas leave the clay surface exposed as it is. It can stain. If unglazed bottom surfaces and feet come into contact with seasonings like stews or sauces, staining can occur[1][2][3]. Generally, when firing ceramics, the glaze is wiped off the foot area that touches the ground; these unglazed surfaces have open micro-crevices in the clay, making it easy for pigments to seep in if rich broths touch them.
Care is straightforward. After washing lightly with a neutral detergent, it should be thoroughly dried before storage so that no moisture remains[4]. Generally, seasonings on such surfaces tend to harden inward once dry, so it is recommended to rinse them right away rather than leaving them in the sink for a long time after meals.
hmmm, simply placing the bowls so that the bottom foot of the upper bowl does not touch the seasoning of the lower bowl when stacking them in a dish tub can significantly reduce stains.

How to remove seasoning stains that have already soaked into the bottom foot or whether bleach can be used has not yet been confirmed.
