The derby shoes description lists different leathers for the exterior and interior; what is the difference?

While reading the shoe description, the shopper saw different types of leather listed for the upper and the lining, and wondered about their respective divided roles.

Men's Classic Derby, Black
hmmm editorial answer

Sturdy buffalo leather is used for the exterior upper, while pigskin, which is beneficial for sweat absorption and breathability, is used separately for the interior lining that touches the foot[1].

The outside is buffalo leather, and the inside is pig leather.

AMOMENTO's Men's Classic Derby uses 100% BUFFALO LEATHER for the shoe's exterior upper, and is lined with 100% PIG LEATHER for the inner lining[2].

This is because the environments that the outside and inside of the shoe face are different. Generally, buffalo leather has a firm and tough leather structure, making it resistant to external scratches or friction and reliably holding its shape. On the other hand, pig leather used for linings has fine pores evenly spread across the surface, providing good breathability and excellent properties for absorbing and drying sweat. The outsole is also finished with 100% RUBBER considering walking traction[3].

It is a division of roles where the outer leather durably maintains the shoe's frame and the inner leather helps provide a comfortable fit.
