Generally, paulownia wood is lightweight yet has properties that maintain a constant internal humidity and repel insects, so since ancient times it has been widely used as a box material for storing ceramics or precious calligraphy. Keeping ceramic vessels inside the box not only cushions external impacts, but also protects the white porcelain from seasonal temperature and humidity changes.

When the vessel is not left out on display, it is safer to wrap it in a soft cloth or cotton wrapping cloth and place it inside the box, and to keep the box itself in a well-ventilated, shaded spot out of direct sunlight.
