What role do the dedicated speakers and music in the Namsan showroom play in the space?
When visiting the showroom, you may wonder why professional audio equipment and distinctive tracks are playing instead of typical background music. This is asked when you want to know why a furniture store carefully prepared even the sound environment.
In a space that deals not only with furniture but also with music and scents, they serve to convey the sonic atmosphere pursued by the brand through tracks by collaborating musicians and professional audio equipment.
While your eyes examine the furniture, your ears hear sounds based on funk and soul[1][2]. VILLA RECORDS does not simply stop at displaying furniture, but also deals with various sensory elements that fill the space, such as music, scent, and paintings[3]. In effect, it helps visitors experience not just the appearance of the furniture while staying, but also the air of the room in which that furniture would be placed.
The acoustics were also refined with professional equipment. In collaboration with Samasound, Genelec speakers were installed in the Namsan showroom, and musician SUMIN, who has collaborated for a long time, curated a setlist specifically for this space[4]. Genelec is widely used as studio monitor equipment that accurately reproduces the original sound without artificially ornamenting it. As music with a unique texture flows through balanced speakers, the impression of the space where the furniture is placed becomes even clearer.
The Namsan showroom is located at 서울특별시 용산구 회나무로44길 2 spanning from basement level 1 to 2 floors above ground, and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30 AM to 6 PM, closed on Mondays[5].
hmmm, it is a thoughtful setup that ensures the time spent looking around the furniture is not just simple sightseeing, helping visitors fully experience the brand's atmosphere blended with sound.
The specific list of included tracks for the entire setlist that musician SUMIN organized for the Namsan showroom has not yet been confirmed.
