Did the two pairs of washed denim fade in different ways?

If you only know that both pairs of denim are washed, it is difficult to judge what the difference is just by looking at photos. You need to know where and why the color faded to choose which one matches the look you want.

hmmm editorial answer

One pair had color removed from designated areas from the thigh to the knee, while the other pair had indigo fabric washed out until the white threads were revealed.

Even with the same washing, one has designated faded areas, while the other reveals the inside of the fabric.

Washed jeans falls under the former case. By applying both brushed processing and tint processing broadly from the thigh to the knee, it created fading in that section as if it had been rubbed through long wear[1]. Generally, denim only has color applied to the outer yarn while the inner core remains white yarn, so brushing the surface brings up the white grain underneath.

White bleach selvedge jeans is the one that pushed that direction all the way. By washing the indigo-dyed fabric again until the white threads show, it allows you to directly feel the white core that the denim held inside[2].

hmmm, when choosing between the two pairs, the criterion is closer to where it faded rather than how much color was lost. For the former, the passage of time worn remains like marks on the front of the legs, and for the latter, the color originally hidden by the fabric becomes the overall impression of the entire garment.
