When placing the enamel container over a fire or in an oven to reheat food, can the lid also be kept on?
Thinking only of enamel's characteristic of being able to be heated directly in the container, it is easy to be confused about whether it can be placed over a fire with the lid kept on. This is because the materials of the body and the lid are different, so the heat limits they can withstand differ.
Unlike the body, which is glass-coated metal, the lid only withstands up to 70℃, so the lid must be removed when placing it over a fire or putting it in an oven.
While the body is heat-resistant enamel, the accompanying lid is EVA resin that only withstands up to 70℃[1][2]. Generally, enamel is a material made by applying glass glaze to a metal surface and baking it at high temperatures, so it withstands the strong heat of a fire or oven without difficulty. On the other hand, EVA resin, which helps create a flexible seal, can easily expand or warp when exposed to heat.
For NODA HORO storage containers, whether to separate the lid must be determined by 2 different ways depending on use. Thanks to the lid withstanding down to -30℃, food can be kept with the lid closed when storing it in the refrigerator or freezing it in the freezer[3][4]. However, when placing the container directly over a fire or putting it in an oven to cook, the lid must be removed. To prevent deformation, high-temperature drying in a dishwasher or boiling water sterilization should also be done only with the body, leaving the resin lid out.

The exact maximum heat-resistant temperature that the enamel body can withstand has not yet been confirmed in official materials.
