It starts with how the neck is fastened. KHIHO's Nest Hood Winter Balaclava has three buttons on the front placket[1]. Instead of pulling it over your head, you can unbutton it and wear it comfortably like an outer garment.
The string lengths at the front and back are also different. The front string is 61cm, and the back string is 43cm[2][3]. When pulled and tied, the 43cm-long back string serves to tighten the excess room so that the hood wraps securely around the head. The long, 61cm front string can be draped down the chest or tied in a knot to block cold wind from penetrating the neck.
