Can I sanitize the beverage dispenser lid in boiling water or boil it?

If boiled in boiling water or sanitized with boiling water, the thin polyethylene packing may warp and fail to serve as a seal. Rather than applying hot heat for sterilization, it is safer to rinse it gently with lukewarm or cold water.
