The proportions of their shapes differ. The basic sake cup has a diameter of 6.2cm and a height of 2.5cm, having the shape of a shallow cup that spreads out wide sideways^[2].

On the other hand, the low type and the tall type share the same rim diameter of 4cm^[3][4]. They differ in height. The low type has a height of 4.5cm^[5], and the tall type has a height of 7cm, rising elongated upwards^[6]. With a diameter of 4cm, the low type and tall type are comfortable to lightly wrap your fingers around and hold, making them suitable for sipping alcohol, while the basic sake cup, being low and wide with a height of 2.5cm, is held by supporting the rim of the cup with the fingertips as you drink.
