When ordering multiple tableware items to make a set, can I choose products with the exact same color tone or size?

Customers looking to purchase tableware or teacups as a set naturally expect uniformity when placing them side by side on the dining table. When buying multiple ceramic pieces, they want to gauge the extent of the differences between items.

hmmm editorial answer

Due to the kiln-firing process, the color tone and size vary slightly for each individual piece, and even if you order multiple items, they are shipped at random without being sorted to match specifications.

When you place two identical bowls side by side on the dining table, the subtle differences between the two catch your eye.

Even with the same specifications, HORIE TOUKI tableware exhibits individual differences in overall color tone, size, and shape during the kiln-firing process^[1]. This is because the way the clay shrinks and the glaze melts varies depending on the temperature and location of heat transfer inside the kiln.

The dimensions are also not completely identical.

An error of around 1cm may occur depending on the measuring method^[2], so when storing multiple items stacked together, the nesting depth or height may not align perfectly. Even if you purchase multiple pieces of the same product to make a matching set, they are packed and shipped at random without being selected to match in size or tone^[3].

hmmm, rather than matching uniform pairs like machine-made manufactured goods, it is closer to a choice of naturally welcoming onto the dining table the unique curves formed through clay and fire.
