Are the fine cracks or indentation marks visible on the bottom surface of the dishware defective?
When receiving new dishware and inspecting the bottom, it is easy to worry whether it is broken if you find traces of cracks or indentations. This is a question to determine whether it is a normal product with no problems in actually using the dishware.
These are natural traces that occur during the process of firing ceramics at high temperatures, and there is no problem with the quality of the dish or its actual use.
If you turn over HAKUSAN dishware, you may encounter fine gaps or dent-like marks on the base where it touches the table. This is not a defect. Even after ceramics are shaped, leveled, and put into the kiln, during the process of being fired at high temperatures, the balance of the bottom surface may become slightly distorted, or cracks and indentations may form on the surface[1][2].
Generally, ceramics formed and baked from clay have the property of shrinking as their volume decreases significantly during high-temperature firing. In this process, fine traces may remain on the unglazed bottom surface, but there is no abnormality in the quality or durability of the product, and it does not interfere with daily use such as serving food or washing dishes[3][4][5]. You can safely place it on your dining table.

It has not yet been confirmed up to what extent the size of the cracks or indentation marks formed on the bottom surface is managed within the normal range.
